Air cushion transport caster installation and commissioning

In the field of industrial heavy-duty material handling, moving precision equipment and heavy machinery is often a high-risk and highly technical task. Air cushion pallet trucks, with their advantages of low friction, high load-bearing capacity, and stable operation, have become an ideal choice for solving this problem. However, as the saying goes, “installation is 70% of the equation,” improper operation during installation and commissioning can not only prevent the equipment from performing at its full potential but may even lead to equipment damage or safety accidents. This article will focus on the installation process and operational details of air cushion pallet trucks to help you safely and efficiently complete every precision material handling task.

   1. The air cushion transport caster consists of four air cushion support blocks. When in use , connect the compressed air source to the controller via the main air pipe, and then connect the air cushion support blocks to the controller via the branch air pipes.

   2. Place several air cushion support blocks under the machine support surface in a reasonable layout.

   3. When adjusting the air supply, pull up the knob cap of each pressure regulating valve . Turning it clockwise increases the pressure, and turning it counterclockwise decreases the pressure. Rotate each pressure regulating valve knob to inflate the air cushion (Note: Do not exceed 0.35 MPa for the inflation pressure of each air cushion). After the air cushion is inflated, press down each pressure regulating valve knob to lock it, and then it can be moved. If the air supply pressure is too high, it will cause the air cushion to vibrate up and down.

   4. After the machine has been moved and positioned, do not turn off the air supply immediately. First turn on the anchor bolts to make it contact the ground. Then turn off the air supply and deflate the airbag before removing the machine.

   5. After the work is completed, when disassembling the main and branch air pipes, the compressed air in the pipes must be released first, and all pressure gauges on the controller should read zero .

Precautions

   1. Do not inflate each air cushion support block by more than 0.35 MPa.

   2. The weight borne by each air cushion support block should be as even as possible and pressed on the center of the air cushion support block to prevent the air cushion support block from tilting.

   3. It consists of at least 3 air cushion support blocks.

   4. The air supply pressure should not be too high when the air cushion support block is not bearing weight or is not fully bearing weight, otherwise the air cushion support block will jump. In this case, simply reduce the air supply pressure to restore normal operation.

   5. The air cushion support block is in contact with the ground via an air bladder. Since the air bladder is made of rubber, it must be protected from sharp objects (such as metal shavings) to prevent it from being cut.

   6. When the air supply pressure is insufficient and the airbag of the air cushion transport caster is not fully inflated, it is strictly forbidden to force it to move. This will cause the airbag to detach or tear at the bonding point between it and the aluminum plate.

   7. When inflating the air cushion, ensure that there is no moisture in the compressed air pipeline. Otherwise, moisture will prevent the air cushion from moving and may cause the airbag to rupture.
